Reckoning

So I picked up 2 copies of Reckoning over the weekend, (PC for wifey, and PS3 for me).  And we both love the game.  It is an Open World game.  What that means is it is an open world, so after you leave the starter area you can go where every  the hell you want.  When you start the game you don’t have to go, you are not forced into picking your class. The Base classes are “Warrior like” called “Might”, Rogue like called “Finesse”, and mage like “Sorcery”.

There are 4 races to pick, and then you can pick what god you will be aligned to.  Some gods are shared between the races.  Each god gives the player a different buff, like one will increase your magic, a different one will increase your crit chance, or can you pick no god and get a 1% exp buff.

What you get to control your character you wake up in a pile of dead bodies.  You find out you have died, but you have no idea who you where before you died.  No memory’s at all, a clean slate.  In the starter area you will get to try out being like a rogue, then warrior, and last mage.  Once you finish the area you get your first level.  Here you can pick a Destiny card.  Every time you level you can pick a new card, after you get a few destines you unlock more types.  Like I have been get Rogue cards, and I unlocked a scout last night. http://reckoning.amalur.com/en/r/game/destinies

You find out they every one has a fate, there is a set time they will die, they what they will do, when you get your fate read, you have none.  The person that did the reading was like WTF???? and then you get attacked.  There are 3 resources, Health, Mana, and Fate.  When your Fate bar gets full, you can use Reckoning.  IT IS LIKE OMG I AM A FUCKING GOD MODE.  You have your speed increase A LOT, and everything else slows down, after you get to kill a mob in Reckoning you can you a finisher on it, you pull the Fate lines and make them into a FUCKING GOD Weapon,  like I have seen a spear, Hammer, Bow, sword, and I think one more.  Have you use that weapon to hit it a few times, then you will get a button on the screen to start spamming, the more you it, the more exp buff you can get for all the mobs you killed while in Reckoning, it goes up by 25%,  I have not get 100%, I normally miss it by one or 2 clicks.

The Spells look really nice, on both the PS3, and my wife’s computer.  Each weapon has different ability’s, like for the bow, you get a set number of shots before it “breaks”, your arrows will recharge.  You can pick pocket, kill some NPC’s and take their stuff, get tossed into jail. Steal stuff in desk, chests, and other things.  There is a lock pick and despell lock system.  You can play the mini game to try to open it, or just have the game auto do it, for a % chance.

Rogues have a back stab, that I was doing 2K of damage while my normal attacks crit for like 100.  Mages can summon adds to help. All the spells look great very detailed.

There are no mounts, but there is Fast Travel, so if you go to the world map you can click on a town you have been there, and port right there.  The Map is big and there are a lot of side quests.
